Key Issues
Lake Forest Park is at a pivotal moment. The decisions made by our City Council today will shape the character, sustainability, and livability of our city for years to come. As we face growth pressures, environmental challenges, and increasing demands on city services, we need thoughtful, balanced leadership that puts the long-term well-being of our community first. I’m committed to protecting what makes Lake Forest Park special — both environmentally and financially, while ensuring we grow in a responsible way.
A vote for me is a vote for:
Public Safety Comes First
I strongly support fully funding police, fire, and emergency services. These are essential services, not optional extras, and residents deserve reliable protection.Fixing the Levy Problem
When the City Council cannot agree on a tax levy, it divides residents and erodes trust. I support creating a Citizens Fiscal Sustainability Commission of local financial experts to assist the Council in ensuring any levy has a clear, united plan before it goes to votersHousing Policy: LFP is Not Shoreline or Bothell
Growth is coming, but it must be managed. Our steep slopes, streams, and limited infrastructure make “one size fits all” state mandates unrealistic. A city study showed only a small number of parcels could support middle housing. As Planning Commission Chair, I heard residents call for minimal compliance, and I support that approach.Corner Businesses and Parking
I oppose putting businesses on residential corners and eliminating parking requirements. Most sites are constrained by slopes, streams, and tree canopy. Removing parking rules would push cars onto narrow streets, creating congestion and safety risks.Environmental Stewardship
I support restoring the Citizen Environmental Commission to ensure environmental experts guide city decisions on housing and business expansion.Sound Transit’s Plans for LFP
I strongly support light rail and improved bus service, but Sound Transit’s plan for Bothell Way would deforest our corridor, cost hundreds of millions, and deliver little benefit. I support the smarter alternative advanced by our city.
